on this day a year ago, we {finally} were granted Legal Guardianship of our sweet girl!!
i'm spending today at this conference in malibu...
and i get to share our story on a panel
about uganda with isaac obiro and mark riley.
i absolutely love the fact that exactly one year later, we purposefully, get to remember all that god did in our journey.
a perfect way to spend our day.
{you know we'll be celebrating on sunday with the littles!}

I can't believe I finally met you. My only regret is not getting an autograph. Be blessed.

DeleteSara,
ReplyDeleteI am so grateful that you have shared all of your story with the world, and wanted you to know that tonight you have probably become part of my story. I am a Social Work major, getting ready for my last semester before my internship. At least a dozen times in the last month I've been asked "Won't it be hard to take children away from their parents all the time?".
Somehow tonight I got linked back to a comment I made on your YouTube video back in Dec '11 when you were praying for a miracle to get your babies home. I rewatched your video and decided I HAD to know what happened. I found the link to your blog and have spent the past few hours reading every last post. As I got close to the beginning, you were mentioning your social worker over and over. Then it hit me that I just finished training to volunteer (in hopes of having an internship) at a local crisis pregnancy center. I had actually been playing with the idea of wanting a position there after graduation. But your story somehow came back to me. And I realized...yes, it would be hard to take children away from their parents. It would be awful, and I've known since I chose this major that I never wanted to do that job. But now I know, I want to be in the business of putting children with their parents, and helping birth parents make that amazingly selfless decision to give their child a better life than they can provide.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! For sharing your story!
